REGULATED SECRETION AND CELL ADHESION OF BETA CELLS
Cell adhesion among beta cells is required for proper secretion of insulin. Regulated exocytosis of insulin granules, in turn, modulates cell adhesion among beta cells. The molecular mechanisms responsible for this virtuous circle are still unclear.
The goal of this project is to investigate the potential role of ICA512 in coupling cell adhesion and insulin secretion.
